Getting into online broadcasting

Posted by admin on Mar 21, 2009 in Really Good Stuff

OK, this is a little rough. But I think it’s funny, and it’s self-effacing humour.

enjoy… and turn the sound up a bit, it’s a little quiet (at the begining)

Just chillin

Posted by admin on Mar 15, 2009 in Random Thoughts, Really Good Stuff

I’m sitting at church with my iPhone, waiting to run to pick up Kaz’s grandparents. Kaz is here early to lead music. The kids are running around. No worries.

I feel like writing and this blog seemed like a good place.

I’m being inundated (there’s no spell check on this thing, is that how you spell that word?) with tweeps following me on twitter. It’s cool- 1500+ people, sure most of then are there to sell you how to sell, some have products, some have services. Most are really amazing people.

I know. I go to everyone’s site. I like to pray for them and what they’re doing. I’ve made some incredible connections. There are awesome people doing awesome things.

And the ministries I’ve connected with- wow. Sure, some need better websites, but that’s why we have AskandImagine.com – I’m happy to lend suggestions and help when I can.

I don’t follow people who follow 1999 people and
a. Have only 50 followers or
b. Only have 1 or 2 twits (postings)

The first group is only interested in spamming the second… I’m not sure they’re interested in connecting. I want to get to know people, not just read they’re combing their hair. If they want to listen in on my conversations, I don’t care, but I don’t want to be following them if they’re not part of the conversation.

I don’t follow people who sell themselves.

I’ll likely not follow people who use the precious 140 characters to spout barnyard talk. I mean really, this is poetry, express yourself with more of the 180,000 words in English.

I tend not to follow those not writing English – I need to understand in order to connect.

Some people don’t like automated responses, and frown on including links in those automated responses. I love them and have three in my automated response from tweetlater.com

I don’t know how to add HTML to this post, and I have some amazing links people sent me. I need to run to get Babou and Greatpa, so I’ll update this post in a bit and explain a few more things, give props to peeps, and let you know why I love following @hookersforJesus

Later.

Two New Blogs Ready to Roll

When you get organized, you can get a lot of things done. This week is a full one for me, but I’m glad I feel ready to get after it.

I’ve been able to finish setting up RevTrev Reviews and Web Advice. This week I’ve committed to 3 posts a week on each.

Reviews tagline is “Because you deserve my opinion”. It’s tongue-in-cheek as I plan to keep the reviews. I have 4 manuscripts from unpublished books sitting on my desk and hard drive, so I know people want my opinion on writing :) . Almost everything I review will be from our online store (that I often forget I have) www.EmpoweringInspiration.com but we’ll see how it goes.

Web Advice comes from my currently active 21 website experience. With the huge mistakes I’ve made over the years, and people who use our services at www.IntegrityOnlineServices.com asking me advice, I thought I’d better start writing it down.

Well, I have 10 training/ministry sessions over the next 30 days to prepare for, 7 sermons to write for Life Above the Negativity, and I need to update RevTrev.com, AskandImagine.com and type up the latest blog for Drink From the Deep

Maybe I should pull an all-nighter? Probably better to watch the next episode of Laugh Yourself to a Better Marriage with Kaz.

That’s it.

OOOH, just thought of things to update with this site… do I go crazy or leave it be?

Twitter to remember

Posted by admin on Sep 21, 2008 in Really Good Stuff

I’ve been twittering a lot more with my iPhone. I have it set up to update my facebook status. Some of my random rants have been getting nice feedback.

Here’s one I want to remember. It started with a thought I’ve quoted often since it leapt unexpectantly from my lips … It could be 7 years ago now. But with more space to twitter I continued and what it ended up as could be the summation of a decent sermon.

So I need to remember it since I have no idea how long my tweets are saved at twitter or how long my status updates are kept on facebook. It’s best to control the storage, as I’ve learned the long hard way… Too long a story to finger-type on my iPhone.

Here’s the thought: (feel free to quote me)

Don’t have time to be busy. The One who holds the multiverse never was, never is, and enjoys you too much to let busy-ness control His pleasure of you.

Ok that may be too long for a tweet. I don’t know if I can copy and paste on this thing. But I think I’m liking this one more – but it may be tweaked before it’s preached.

My afternoon with Revenue Canada

Posted by admin on Sep 3, 2008 in Really Good Stuff

I really need to see how to use the extra categories I set up on this blog since I’ve upgraded the engine.

I just got off the phone with the CRA- this time without being cut off or sent to a department who took a late, or early, or long lunch. I think I’ve figured out how to charge USD and report GST/HST… It’s all a little confusing.

Anyway it’s settled for now.

Check out the emerging ImagineDistribution.com .. But don’t worry if you see some really confusing things- the magic isn’t done yet.

When your not under pressure

Posted by admin on Aug 31, 2008 in Really Good Stuff

Well the updates from the iPhone seems to be working well. I woke up yesterday thinking I didn’t have to do anything.

So it was fun to now the lawn, update wordpress on this blog and http://www.drinkfromthedeep.com, update http://www.revtrev.com and http://www.ExpectancyMinistries.com and copy a few tracks of the School of Healing and Impartation 2 so we can watch them on our iPods.

Anyway, it seems I can get a lot more done when I’m not trying.

Testing blogging on the iphone

Posted by admin on Aug 30, 2008 in Really Good Stuff

I’ve upgraded wordpress to take posts from handhelds. I’ve added a new template and will be adding features to the blog. But this is time to spend with the family so I thought I’d see if it’s working to post from the iPhone.

If it works I’ll be posting more.

If…

Posted by admin on Aug 9, 2008 in Really Good Stuff

I just saw this poem on CBC’s coverage of the Olympics. Why haven’t I seen it before? Why does it speak so much to me? I found it here

Rudyard Kipling
If

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or, being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or, being hated, don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise;

If you can dream – and not make dreams your master;
If you can think – and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with triumph and disaster
And treat those two imposters just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to broken,
And stoop and build ‘em up with wornout tools;

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breath a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: “Hold on”;

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings – nor lose the common touch;
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run -
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And – which is more – you’ll be a Man my son!

Updates…updates…updates

Posted by admin on Aug 8, 2008 in Really Good Stuff

Well, I’m almost convinced to update the engine that runs this site… only because I then can blog from my iPod touch.

But with a few more sites to set up, this will have to wait. You can always follow my microblogs at http://www.twitter.com/revtrev

Hey, every once in a while I check out what’s online regarding my kids. I love it when stories I’ve written about Taiessa show up. Here’s one that ranks high http://www.a-writers-block.com/jokes200304.html

Anyway, the rest of the ones about her specifically are all on http://www.RevTrev.com
